How I work

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. You might not be sure what kind of therapy you need, or even how to begin — and that’s completely fine. My job is to make it feel manageable from the very first contact.

I bring together a unique combination of therapy approaches, adapting to your needs as therapy progresses. The foundation of my approach is a non-judgemental, supportive attitude, where we’re curious together to understand what’s going on for you, and we work collaboratively to find a way forward. You won’t experience a ‘blank slate’ with me — I believe warmth and humour have an important place in the therapy room.

Online or in-person

I work online and in-person from a beautiful, bespoke therapy room in Godalming, Surrey. In-person sessions are in a calm, private location close to train and bus routes, with local parking. Farncombe station is a 5-minute walk away, Godalming station a 15-minute walk.

Online therapy means we can work together wherever you are in the world (outside the US and Canada), and it’s just as effective — even for EMDR. You can join from your own space, with your favourite chair or pet by your side.

Session format

Therapy provides time and space – 50 minutes, once a week – just for you. It can be time-limited or open-ended: in an initial assessment we’ll explore this. I provide a space where you will be heard, you won’t be judged, and we will work together to find a way forward.

I also offer intensive individual sessions to focus on a specific issue: £165 for a 75-minute session. This may be helpful for clients returning to work with me after a break, or for those who want to spend more time on a specific topic.

Not all therapists are the same - the relationship matters

The evidence suggests that the most important factor in therapy working is you – whether you want to change something, and what you do about it in the therapy and in your life in general. The second most important factor is the relationship with your therapist, so it’s important that you choose someone you feel comfortable with and, ideally, speak to a couple of people before you choos. I hope my website gives you a good sense of who I am.

Choosing your approach

You might come to me knowing whether you want EMDR or talking therapy, or you might be unsure — and that’s fine. I offer:

  • Individual therapy — a safe, consistent space to explore what’s been going on and make the changes you need.

  • EMDR therapy — a focused, proven approach to process and move past distressing experiences.

If you’re not sure which is right for you, we can figure it out together in your free 20-minute call.
